Numerical Studies of Heat Transfer on Hypersonic Blunt Bodies with Gas Injection
نویسنده
چکیده
Numerical analysis of hypersonic continuum and rarefied gas flows near blunt probes is presented under conditions of intensive gas blowing from the surface. Nonequilibrium parameters in the multicomponent flows were evaluated for slot and uniform injections of air, helium, and hydrogen. Numerical results indicate that the most effective cooling of the probe surface occurs at moderate uniform injections and moderate Reynolds numbers. It has been found that at transitional flow conditions, when the mass air injection rate equals 0.7 of the free-stream mass flux, the viscous layer is blown completely off the surface, and the heat transfer is zero.

Approximate Viscous Shock-Layer Analysis of Axisymmetric Bodies in Perfect Gas Hypersonic Flow
In this paper, an approximate axisymmetric method is developed which can reliably calculate fully viscous hypersonic flow over blunt-nosed bodies. In this method, a Maslen’s second-order pressure expression is used instead of the normal momentum equation. The combination of Maslen’s second-order pressure expression and viscous shock layer equations is developed to accurately and efficiently com...
متن کاملGeneral Reynolds Analogy for Blunt-nosed Bodies in Hypersonic Flows
In this paper, the relation between skin friction and heat transfer along windward sides of blunt-nosed bodies in hypersonic flows is investigated. The self-similar boundary layer analysis is accepted to figure out the distribution of the ratio of skin friction to heat transfer coefficients along the wall. It is theoretically obtained that the ratio depends linearly on the local slope angle of ...

The effects of rarefaction and nonequilibrium processes on hypersonic rarefied-gas flows over blunt bodies have been studied by the Direct Simulation Monte-Carlo technique (DSMC) and by solving the full Navier-Stokes equations and the equations of a thin viscous shock layer (TVSL) under the conditions of wind-tunnel experiments and hypersonic-vehicle flights at altitudes from 60 to 110 km. The ...
متن کاملLaminar and Turbulent Aero Heating Predictions over Blunt Body in Hypersonic Flow
In the present work, an engineering method is developed to predict laminar and turbulent heating-rate solutions for blunt reentry spacecraft at hypersonic conditions. The calculation of aerodynamic heating around blunt bodies requires alternative solution of inviscid flow field around the hypersonic bodies. In this paper, the procedure is of an inverse nature, that is, a shock wave is assumed a...
متن کاملHeat Transfer on a Hypersonic Sphere with Diffuse Rarefied-gas Injection
The interaction of a diffusing outgas flow from a sphere nose opposing a hypersonic free stream is studied numerically by the direct simulation MonteCarlo technique under the transitional rarefied-gas-flow regime conditions at Knudsen numbers from 0.016 to 1.5 and blowing factors from 0.15 to 1.5. Strong influences of the blowing factor (the ratio of outgas mass flux to upstream mass flux) and ...
